Buckle up for an emotional, exhilarating ride through memory, grief, and the open road. ABET proudly presents The Mad Ones — a fresh, heartfelt, coming-of-age
musical about a young woman on the cusp of adulthood, haunted by the past and paralyzed by the future.

At the wheel is Samantha Brown, a high school valedictorian who’s supposed to have it all figured out — but instead sits in her car, keys in hand, unsure whether to drive off toward college or away from it all. As memories of her best friend, her mother, and her boyfriend collide in her mind, Sam must decide which path — and which version of herself — to follow.

Written by the celebrated team of Kait Kerrigan and Bree Lowdermilk, known for their passionate fanbase and widely performed works (The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown, Henry and Mudge, The Bad Years), The Mad Ones has become a cult favorite among young performers and theatre-lovers for its emotional depth, contemporary voice, and stunning score.

Kerrigan and Lowdermilk’s work has been produced across the country and internationally. The team has been honored by NAMT (National Alliance for
Musical Theatre) and supported by institutions like Goodman Theatre, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, and Lincoln Center.

With its intimate cast, powerful themes, and soaring music, The Mad Ones is a musical for dreamers, wanderers, and anyone who’s ever stood at life’s crossroads asking, “What now?”

A bold, beautiful journey of loss, love, and self-discovery — The Mad Ones is a musical that speaks to the heart of a generation.
